Welcome to Spark Siren, where stories inspire impact ✨
What a fantastic year of reading, storytelling and connection. Stories from the female gaze have been especially present on my radar this year, and we are thriving! I’m so excited to watch as women continue to evolve in the future, especially in the creative arts.
Spark Siren aims to inspire women, however it leaves me inspired and grateful to know that I have such a diverse group of people that have connected with this page. I would like to thank each and every one of my subscribers for being on this journey with me.
This page has taken several months of planning, creativity, and care before launching. So being at this point is a special moment for me. To have you all onboard has been such a joy and has made me feel very proud.
Reading has always been an avenue of connection for me; a way to transcend time, culture, and perspective. It’s one of the ways in which we can communicate our thoughts directly onto a page for anyone who would be interested in discovering them.
When I began reading my world creatively expanded, my understanding of culture/ society deepened, and I not only felt seen but also became aware of the perspectives of others. So with these books I’ve selected for Spark Sir en, I hope that it has helped to creatively expand, help develop understanding and connect us through an awareness of each other. Substack has created such a wonderful opportunity to connect in that way.
As 2024 is coming to a close, I just wanted to acknowledge all the great stories that we’ve had recently from the female point of view.
Whether it is film, art, literature, or music, there have been so many works that have made me personally feel seen. There’s so much positive impact for women and men when we share our stories. Creating art from the perspective of the female gaze achieves that.
The world needs our voice.
So here are the stories that have impacted me:
Books I’ve Loved:
When God Was a Woman by Merlin Stone
Rememberings by Sinead O’Connor
I Who Have Never Known Men by Jacqueline Harpman
Films I’ve Loved:
Nightbitch
The Substance
Woman of The Hour
Songs I’ve Loved:
She Swam Higher by Dani Sylvia
Aquamarine by Addison Rae

May 2025 bring you all much joy, growth and love. I’m excited and thankful to be walking into 2025 together. ✨
With Love,
June Tara, Creator of Spark Siren
